Environmental Resources Management (ERM)

The assignment supports the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Environmental Resources Management (ERM) in implementing the Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) for Uzbekistan. The focus is on strengthening engagement with the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan to ensure meaningful involvement in the SESA process. The project includes assessing previous engagement efforts, identifying appropriate contact points within the Ministry, and developing a structured and collaborative approach to communication. 

Services provided

The following describe Juru’s scope within the project tasks:

Task 1: Kick-off

  • Establishing project objectives and timelines.

Task 2: Review of the Engagement to Date

  • Conducting a review of prior engagement activities with the Ministry of Energy and assess communication effectiveness.
  • Identifying key counterparts within the Ministry and evaluated opportunities to improve engagement channels.

Task 3: Engagement Approach Workshop

  • Developing an engagement strategy in coordination with ERM and EBRD through a dedicated virtual workshop.

Task 4: Engagement with the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Mining and Geology

  • Introducing the SESA project to key contacts and validating the engagement approach; 
  • Arranging and conducting meetings with selected Ministry representatives, in collaboration with ERM.
  • Maintaining ongoing communication to ensure the agreements and action items from meetings are implemented.
  • Undertaking additional actions as identified during initial engagement phases.
