Project features

The consortium of Nebras Power (Qatar) and Sojitz International (Japan) has signed an investment agreement and the Head of Terms with the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan on the development of a 1 GW windfarm in Tomdy district, Navoiy region, Uzbekistan. The sponsors were seeking technical advisory support for the development of this project from early stages up to the selection of the EPC contractor for this project. All project development activities (including wind measurement, geotechnical investigations, environmental & social studies) need to meet the bankability criteria set forth by the international financing institutions.

Services provided

Wind Measurement Campaign

• Conduct wind speed measurements and meteorological data collection for 12 months with the installation of 3 meteorological towers up to 120m equipped with first-class meteorological sensors, compliant with IEC, IEA and MEASNET standards and 3 Lidars from Molas B300 system.
• Develop bankable final report with Loss & Uncertainty (P50, P75, P90) calculations for multiple wind turbine models and statistical analysis of wind measurement data.

Geotechnical Investigations 

• Conduct extensive field investigations by drilling 150mm nominal diameter boreholes up to 35m below ground level and excavate a trial pit (TP)of size 3m x 3m to gather comprehensive geotechnical data compliant with IEC, IEA and MEASNET;
• Submitting geotechnical report with field work and SPT, ERT, TRT tests results and ERT, TRT laboratory analysis including Atterberg Limits, particle size distribution, water and soil chemical results in order to recommend design and soil parameters;

E&S Scoping Study

• Conduct E&S Screening and Scoping Studies, Legal and administrative framework, Stakeholder Engagement (Consultations), Baseline conditions and data gaps, Biodiversity screening and Recommended Studies.

Tender support

• Preparation of the main technical requirements (Employer Requirements) for the EPC tender
• Processing of the studies done on the grid interconnection and preparation of the information to be included in the bidding documents
• Providing clarifications to bidders
