457 MW Sherabad Solar Project (the Project) is part of a 1 GW Solar Program, supported by ADB for the development of solar power projects under PPP modality (the Program). Masdar won competitive tender to develop, finance, build and operate the Project and including a construction of a new 220 kV substation in Sherabad district and around 51 km transmission line to connect to the 500 kV Surkhan substation (SS). The Client hired Juru to conduct a route survey for the construction of ca. 51 km 220 kV OHTL between the new Sherabad-2 SS and Surkhan SS, to evacuate power from the PV plant into the grid and enhance the grid hosting capacity between the South-Western and the North-Western networks. 

Services provided

  • Identify feasible corridors - minimum of four routes - based on a preliminary desktop study:
  • Review and analyse existing available documents, reports, studies of the involved networks. Single line diagrams of connected substations and etc.;
  • Conduct GIS-based survey to identify existing facilities along the line route.
  • Filter identified options against risks associated with populated areas, environmentally protected zones etc. Propose the option which fulfils the environmental and social criteria and most technically favourable solution (in terms of construction, materials etc.);
  • Site visit along feasible routes defined during the Desktop Study;
  • High level estimation of tower quantities for the proposed option;
  • Preparation of final route survey report.
