Project features

The Government of Uzbekistan (GoU) has requested the World Bank for technical assistance supporting the Ministry of Energy to create the conditions for the development of a low carbon hydrogen economy in Uzbekistan. The Bank has made a grant available from the Extractives Global Programmatic Support (EGPS) Trust Fund. The technical assistance focusses among others on the development of the legal and regulatory framework for LCH production, transport, storage, and usage, the development of consistent LCH standards covering quality, GHG intensity, safety, and technology, the design of a monitoring, verification and reporting system (MRV), and target setting for decarbonization of the gas value chain.

• Review draft gas law and key terms for HPA offtake contracts
• Contribute to key LCH pathways and recommendations
