Project features

ACWA Power and the JSC National Electrical Grid of Uzbekistan signed an agreement for the development/construction/operation of a 200 MW photovoltaic plant with a 500 MWh BESS. The project improves reliability of intermittent solar power generation in Uzbekistan by introducing battery storage. China Energy Engineering Group (EPC) has awarded Juru to perform Engineering Design and Surveying Services.

Services provided

Assignment 1. Engineering Design Services

• Develop basic and detailed design for a 220/35 kV substation covering electrical (primary and secondary), SCADA, telecommunication, civil, structural, architectural, general layout, HVAC and Fire Protection works
• Review and adapt all drawings and documents to comply with respect to local laws, codes and the like and translate all drawings
• Support EPC to obtain the required permits and approvals for documents from local authorities on time
• Perform third-party services including insulation coordination and arc flash studies, relay protection setting calculations and coordination for both the substation and PV plant

Assignment 2. Site Surveys

• Develop a Geotechnical Report with recommendations for PV area design by carrying out geotechnical investigations with a total of 30 boreholes (4-10 meters depth) and conducting ERT, TRT tests.
• Perform a detailed topographical survey within a 700-hectare area including access roads and transmission lines using Unmanned Aerial drones adhering to specified grid mesh requirements.
• Develop a hydrology study report, encompassing flood risk assessment, drainage design recommendations, and mitigation strategies based on detailed analysis of site-specific conditions and historical flood data including flood level of 100-year (1% AEP), 50-year (2% AEP), 25-year (4% AEP) and 10-year (10%AEP).
• Conduct Albedo Measurements to measure soil irradiance by installing 2x Pyronometers SMP-11V/CMP-10 (Kipp&Zone), 1xLogbox SE-Logbox (Kipp&Zone), 1xMeteostation WS-600 (Lufft)
