Project features

Under an agreement signed in May 2021, EDF Hydro Engineering was appointed to support the construction of the Mullalak Hydroelectric Power Station on the Pskem River in Uzbekistan, with plans to boost its capacity from 140 MW to 170 MW. Juru was hired to provide a support during EDF E&S experts’ site visit to Mullalakskaya and Pskem hydroelectric project sites on the Pskem river in the Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region and Khodjikent pumped storage project site in the Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region. This included the acquaintance with the local E&S conditions, socio-economic and natural environment impact assessment, observation of potential areas for resettlement and environmental compensation, as well as communication with local dwellers especially in the targeted villages of Mullalak, Palvanak, Ispay.

Services provided

• Conduct a botanical study including desktop data collection in order to preliminary identify impacts;

• Carry out a Fish survey to identify fish species potentially impacted by the project using conventional netting techniques;

• Prepare environmental DNA sampling to detect the presence of various species within the project area using advanced genetic techniques;

• Conduct Spring and Summer 2024 botanical survey.
