The GoU has been implementing a large-scale RE strategy to deploy in the next 10 years up to 5 GW of cost effective and environment-friendly solar generation to meet the increasing demand for electricity in Uzbekistan. As part of this initiative, GoU mandated ADB and IFC to help prepare and auction three different solar PV sites in Jizzakh, Samarkand, Surkhandarya. 

Several bidders contracted Juru to undertake albedo measurement campaign and pile pull out tests.

Services provided

Albedo Measurement Campaign - Jizzakh, Samarkand, Surkhandarya sites

• Juru worked at the Project site to evaluate and characterize the albedo factor more appropriate for the site to be used for subsequent energy yield estimations;
• Albedo measurements in each project site for a period of minimum 3 days with two different independent albedo measurement devices;
• First albedometer measured the albedo with natural soil;
• Second albedometer with disturbed soil by removal 10 cm depth and 10 meters of diameter;
• Measurements made with high class (ISO 9060 secondary class Pyranometers);
• Measurement done during the clear sunny day and minimum 3 hours before and after noon time;
• Following output was provided:
• Brief report of site condition and methodology of measurements;
• Raw data of GHI on front surface, GHI on back surface and Albedo.

Pile Pull Out Test - Jizzakh and Samarkand sites

• The PLTs were carried out on H-beam steel profile sizes and lengths that typically fit the solar PV mounting structures made according ASTM A572 GR50 Yield Strength≥355MPa used here are as follows:
• W 8x15 (S355). Total length 4 meters;
• W 8x10 (S355). Total length 4 meters.
• Three loading directions were applied at the pile head: axial compression, axial tension (pull-out), and lateral or horizontal loading.  At the different points pile rammed 1,8 meters and 2 meters.
• 7 PLT provided at 6 points: 4 with W 8x15 and 3 with W8x10 (Samarkand site);
• 8 PLT provided at 4 points: 4 with W 8x15 and 4 with W8x10 (Jizzakh site).
