Project features

ACWA Power is developing 500 MW Wind Farm on a PPP basis in Gijduvan district, Bukhara region and has entered into a 25-year PPA with NEGU (Off-taker). The Project includes the development, financing, construction, and O&M of the wind farm including 79 WTG, two 33/550 kV substations, and new 500 kV OHL with a length of 162 km, as well as 24 km access road. The site is near Ayakagitma depression, IBA site. Juru’s scope included:

• Conducting seasonal Vantage Point bird surveys 
• Collision Risk Modelling as per following Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) Guidance recommendations based on the outcomes of surveys, as well as 
• Seasonal statistic bat monitoring  

Services provided

• Assist in preparation of ToR for ESIA from biodiversity perspective of selected project site;
• Desktop study on bird & bat surveys previously conducted at/near selected project site;   
• 12 months bird monitoring at 9 VPs during 36 hours per season following the Scottish Natural Heritage: Recommended bird survey methods to inform impact assessment of onshore windfarms (March 2017, v2.) (SNH 2017);
• Houbara Bustard specialized breeding survey within the project area;
• Breeding raptors survey at cliffs near Ayakagitma depression;
• Water birds specialized survey on Ayakagitma depression (Important Bird Area);
• Preparation of seasonal and annual Collision Risk Modelling based on particular bird species or species groups, wind farm based on the specific dimensions and physical characteristics of the rotors, the birds, and the density of bird flights recorded in the wind farm area;
• Seasonal (spring and summer) bat monitoring including monitoring by Wildlife Acoustics Song Meter SM4 recorder during 21 nights between April and October;
• Data analysis and determination of bat species by Kaleidoscope Pro Auto Analysis and BatSound 4 software as per results obtained through sound meters;
• Winter VP survey and Water birds survey 2021/2022 including CRM update for Bash WF;
• Raptor/Vulture nest search work plan for 2022 spring season for Bash WF Project;
• Spring 2022 Raptor/Vulture Nest Survey for Bash WF.
