Project features

ACWA Power is undertaking the development of the Project which entails the construction of the following power generation and transmission facilities:

• 400 MW PV plant, which will be connected to an existing overhead transmission line (OTL) by an overhead 220 kV Loop-in-Loop-out (LILO) connection.

• 334 MW BESS facility that will be sited closed to the closest existing sub-station located about 5 km away from PV Plant. The BESS facility will be connected to the sub-station by a 220 kV underground cable.

Under this assignment, Juru has been hired as E&S consultant for environmental and social impact assessment on national regulator and lenders’ requirements to deliver following services. 

Services provided

• Conduct an E&S Scoping study including desktop data collection and field observations in order to preliminary identify impacts and confirm the ToR for ESIA stage;

• Prepare National EIA report to obtain local environmental permit from authorities; 

• Carry out environmental baseline surveys including soil and water analysis, traffic, landscape, air and noise monitoring;

• Carry out socio-economic baseline surveys including census survey, KIIs, FGDs;

• Perform biodiversity surveys including habitat/botanical, mammal transect, herpetological, spring VP bird monitoring, breeding bird survey, Houbara Bustard survey to inform CHA and ESIA;

• Carry out stakeholder engagement and public disclosure of ESIA;

• Identify land use and Project affected people (PAPs) and carry out valuation to inform the LALRP;

• Conduct Fish survey to identify fish species potentially impacted by the project using conventional netting techniques;

• Carry out Bird monitoring at 4 VPs and biodiversity & baseline surveys focused on noise monitoring and soil quality analysis;

• Provide additional Due Diligence support to the Client in compensation payment procedure.
